OUR History

East Colfax has always been a place shaped by movement, resilience, and community. From its Indigenous roots to its days as a wagon trail, streetcar hub, military neighbor, and now one of Denver’s most diverse corridors—our story is long, layered, and still unfolding.

  • CO House of Representatives District 6 Town Hall: Candidates Iris Halpern and Sean Camacho

A Colorado Springs native, Rep. Sean Camacho grew up in a working-class, military family. At 18, he earned admission to the Air Force Academy, deployed four times, and used the GI Bill to go to law school. Now, he is raising his two young boys with his wife, Jess, in Denver while practicing law and continuing to serve as an Air Force Reservist. Outside of his legal work, he has advocated for important Democratic issues, helped lead non-profits, assisted veterans and individuals in protecting their rights, and helped at-risk youth develop plans for a successful future.

In the legislature, he has fought for educators, mental healthcare, gun reform, affordability, and more—producing big policy wins, such as a $2500 raise for DPS teachers and staff.
